Why plant more native trees?
- Trees are our natural heritage and at one time covered practically the whole country.
- They support an enormous range of wildlife and give infinite pleasure to millions of people.
- More native trees have been destroyed in Britain in the last sixty years than in the previous four centuries.
- We have to act now to replace at least part of what has been lost, for future generations to appreciate and enjoy.
- The threat of global warming has given real urgency to the planting of more trees. An oak tree grown to maturity will lock up over a tonne of carbon from the atmosphere and will help in the fight against future climatic catastrophes.
Why Cornwall?
Despite Cornwall's unquestionable natural beauty it is the second least wooded county in the country. This makes it a high priority area for creating new woodlands.
